Version 24 Feb 2005
g.heimerdinger
On-line event logs (GLOBEC Georges Bank Project) were screened for inconsistencies in the date, time, and positional parameters. Suspect parameters where altered/flagged based on a comparison of the event logs in the published Cruise Reports, alternate sources of information, or judgment calls on my part. Cosmetic changes were also addressed as needed. gfh
The following is a list of issues addressed on a cruise-by-cruise basis:
General comment:
Inconsistencies in the reporting of event numbers abound. There is a high rate of missing "end" event numbers. Dicky suggested that an end event number should be added if date, time, sta, cast, inst, etc parameters were reported for a missing event number. Initially the start event number appended with a (b) was adopted as the corresponding end event number. Many event logs were changed based on this approach. However, Bob suggested that I stop adding (b) until this concept was addressed in greater detail.
